I am using my first post here to share my latest interview with Catherine Putz, editor of The Diplomat, about my latest publication titled “Central Asian studies in the People’s Republic of China: a structural topic model”, with Bradley Jardine on Central Asian Survey. The interview discusses the relevance of different themes in Chinese scholarship on Central Asia, Western perceptions on China in the region, the Belt and Road Initiative and blindspots of China-Central Asia research.
