Great success for the first national conference on the SPERI Doctoral Researchers’ Network, which took place on 10 June 2024 at the University of Sheffield. I was part of the organising team with Emma Mahoney, Nina Lotze, Vicki Reif-Breitwieser, Josh White, and Charline Sempéré.

Around 30 early career and PhD researchers, as well as 12 discussants, from many different institutions joined us at SPERI, the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute, for our first conference. We organised 10 thematic panels on financialisation, authoritarianism, social reproduction, inequality, development, energy and the environment. The final panel involved editors from leading academic journals that publish critical political economy. We were joined by Aida Hozic (Review of International Political Economy), Adrienne Roberts (New Political Economy), and Silke Trommer (Globalizations).
